NBL 2025/26 Free Agency Tracker: Who's locked in so far

4 min read

The NBL 2025/26 season is heating up and free agency has already delivered some blockbuster signings, sneaky re-signings and roster rebuilds across the board. With coaching contracts secure and player movement in full swing, now's the time to take stock of where all 10 teams stand. Who's signed, who's gone and what pieces are still missing?

Yo, landing Bryce Cotton was a huge flex. Resigning the MONSTA for another year is also a massive win, but they still need solid bench depth. It feels like they’re one injury (or not enough balls on the court) away from a meltdown.

Head coach: Mike Wells

Potential depth chart:

PG: Cotton (IP) / White / Rasmussen

SG: Vasiljevic / Harris

SF: Cameron / Kenyon

PF: Harrell (IP) /

C: Humphries / Griscti

Prather staying is a win, but losing Bannan hurts. They’re stacking role players, but are they contenders or just vibing mid table champs again?

Head coach: Stu Lash

Potential depth chart:

PG: Batemon (IP) / Norton / Savage (DP)

SG: McDaniel / Murray / Devers (DP)

SF:  /

PF: Prather (IP) / Smith-Milner

C: Harrison / Holt

Waardenburg staying = smart. Bench depth is amazing. But losing Taran Armstrong? And not locking in your starting 5, Ouch. Cairn's future signings better deliver because their roster looks thinner than my wallet right now.

Head coach: To Be Confirmed

Potential depth chart:

PG:  / Adnam

SG: / Stattmann

SF:  / Higgins-Titsha

PF: Waardenburg / Galloway

C:

Defending Champs. Call me biased if you want, but Core = secured: Harvey, Froling, Grida, Blanchfield. Young guns are rising. Significant import gaps at PG and PF. Days is unlikely to return, and Kell is unsigned. Massive moves are pending, and the roster is still half written.

Head coach: Justin Tatum

Potential depth chart:

PG:  / Hickey / McDowell-White (DP)

SG: Harvey (IP) /

SF: Swaka Lo Buluk / Blanchfield / Grida

PF:  / Peatling

C: Froling / Olbrich / Yates (DP)

Delany’s a beast, Dash Daniels is intriguing, and Milly D comes to the mainland. Losing Delly’s leadership could show. Melbourne always reloads, but can they stay top dog without Delly glue, or will they just keep firing blanks?

Head coach: Dean Vickerman

Potential depth chart:

PG: Ili / Daniels (NS)

SG: Doyle (IP) / Wilson

SF: Goulding / Krebs

PF: Delany / Bowen

C:  / Krslovic

Le’Afa returns home, Te Rangi adds defensive muscle, and Rob Loe’s back for size. Breakers quietly patching gaps, but import choices remain the key. Free agency will really make or break (pun intended) this team.

Head coach: Petteri Koponen

Potential depth chart:

PG:  / Britt / McNaught (DP)

SG: / Le'Afa / Bairstow / Isaac (DP)

SF: Lopez (NS) / Te Rangi / Davison

PF: Mennenga / Darling /

C:  Fall (IP) / Loe

Cotton leaving? Earthquake. Dech and Mayen bring fresh energy, but Perth’s championship DNA is suddenly shaken. They need a marquee star, fast or risk slipping into the wild of Brisbane and Cairns territory.

Head coach: John Rillie

Potential depth chart:

PG:  / Russo-Nance

SG: Dech / Pepper

SF: Windler (IP) / Mayen / Huefner (DP)

PF: Doolittle (IP) / Wagstaff / Gerovich (DP)

C:  / Okwera

Aliir and DJ Mitchell add hustle, but Walton Jr. ’s and potentially Matt Hurts' departures leave a questionable playmaking hole. Phoenix still feels like a team searching for its real identity.

Head coach: Josh King

Potential depth chart:

PG:  / Foxwell

SG: Sobey / Glover / Foster (DP)

SF:

PF: / Mitchell

C: Hunter / Gak / Aliir

Davis and Delly in the backcourt? That’s nasty. Kings retooling like champs, even after losing Le’Afa. Can they return to the mountain top, or will they prove that what looks good on paper doesn't always translate to the court.

Head coach: Brian Goorjian

Potential depth chart:

PG: Dellavedova / Bruce

SG: Davis (IP) / Robertson / Amir (DP)

SF: Kuol / Galloway / Maluach

PF: Cooks / Noi

C: Leaupepe /  / Spurgin

Ayre’s a solid add, Bannan has upside, but losing Krslovic, Doyle, Steindl, Te’Rangi and Crawford worries me. Nonetheless, JJs will always punch above their weight. Besides, culture beats names (and family traditions) here.

Head coach: Scott Roth

Potential depth chart:

PG: Macdonald / Ayre / Nunn (DP)

SG: Johnson (IP) / Drmic / Stoddart

SF: / Marshall

PF: Bannan / Deng

C: Magnay / Williamson / Woodhill (DP)

So there you have it. Free agency so far! Wild, unpredictable and absolutely not done. The Kings and Sixers have already stacked up serious weapons, while Illawarra’s just waiting to unleash their import aces. Perth’s at a crossroads without Cotton, Melbourne’s steady but not flashy, and Cairns? Man, they’re still one big mystery box.

The truth is, this off season has shaken up the league’s power balance, but the biggest moves might still be sitting quietly in the wings. With import slots wide open across multiple rosters, we’re not even close to seeing the final chapter. Buckle up, NBL fans — this ride’s far from over.
